STONE THERAPY MASSAGE

Introduction

This is a VTCT (Vocational Training Charitable Trust) 3 day course with a return visit for assessment and exam.

The VTCT Level 3 Certificate in Stone Therapy Massage (QCF) is a qualification that has been specifically designed to develop your practical skills in; how to provide the relaxing and stress relieving treatment of massage using hot and cold stones.

Underpinning this qualification you will develop a sound knowledge of health and safety, client care and communication. You will also develop a knowledge and understanding of the practical skills learned throughout this qualification, such as anatomy and physiology. The purpose of this qualification is to develop your skills in providing stone therapy massage treatments to a high level of occupational ability, to enable you to provide your own services for clients. Units in this qualification have been mapped to the relevant NOS (where applicable).

This qualification is accredited on the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF). This qualification is approved and supported by the Hairdressing and Beauty Industry Authority (HABIA), the standard setting body for hair, beauty, nails and spa qualifications.

Pre-requisites

There is now a mandatory additional unit VTCT (ITEC) Level 2 Award in Infection Prevention (COVID-19) for Complementary Therapies and Sports Massage (IP2AA)which has to be taken before any practical exams can be. This is an online exam with knowledge gained from prior reading from a booklet and powerpoints in your own time which is meant to take an extra 4 learning hours.

Course Content

This has been specifically designed to develop your practical skills by covering:

Health & safety in the salon, relevant Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology, history of hot stone massage, contra-indications to hot stone massage, benefits of hot stone massage, client care and communication, aftercare and advice, techniques for hot stone massage.

This is a vocational qualification and includes all the required elements to work effectively as a stone therapy massage specialist. The mandatory units covered are:

  • UV30491 - Monitor and maintain health and safety practice in the salon
  • UV30468 - Client care and communication in beauty related industries
  • UV30475 - Apply stone therapy massage

You will develop your understanding and practical skills to competently provide stone therapy massage services.

Throughout this qualification you will develop your knowledge and understanding of relevant anatomy and physiology, health and safety, client care and massage products. You will develop a range of technical skills enabling you to prepare the body, use a stone heater and place stones and provide relaxing massage treatments using basalt stones and a variety of techniques. You will also develop interpersonal skills that will assist you to communicate effectively with clients.

Case Studies and exams

There will be a multiple choice exam and case studies to complete.

Costs

Course costs will be £459 plus registration fees.

Hot Stones will be an extra cost although on the day they are provided for training purposes.
